Springhill Hospice is a 16-bed purpose-built facility providing the highest standard of care for patients with life-limiting illnesses. Beyond our Inpatient Unit, we offer Hospice at Home and specialist palliative community services, wellbeing and pastoral care, and counselling and bereavement support for patients and families.
The Hospice is beautifully situated within large open green spaces, and is enjoyed by many in the local Rochdale community. Our gardens offer patients and their families, along with staff and volunteers, a tranquil and calm place to visit, with a variety of ornamental spaces including seasonal bedding, mixed shrub and herbaceous beds, herb garden, an organic allotment with wildlife pond, dementia-friendly raised garden, memorial orchards and roses, lawns and meadows, labyrinth, and sensory, winter and oriental themed gardens.
The team of 14 gardening volunteers and Head gardener have been formally recognised by the RHS, winning 9 consecutive Golds in NW in Bloom, and achieving Level 5 Outstanding Britain in Bloom Best Hospice for 7 consecutive years. This has only been achieved through the amazing support we receive from our local businesses and communities, and the Gardening Team’s hard work and immense dedication.
