Conkwell Grange is an impressive, private property, nestled in beautiful countryside between Bath and Bradford-on-Avon.

The grounds consist of an 8 acre garden, kitchen garden, meadows and over 120 acres of woodland.

Under the direction of new owners and an experienced, Head Gardener, the garden has begun an exciting phase of redesign and development. We are seeking to recruit a passionate and hard working Gardener to join the existing team, who will be part of this project from the early stages.

The work will be varied and we welcome all skills and levels of experience. Above all we are looking for commitment and enthusiasm, a passion for plants and gardening, a strong work ethic and a desire to learn and develop as a skilled horticulturalist. Some landscaping work and heavy lifting will be an aspect of the role throughout these early stages of the garden development.

We value a high standard of work and attention to detail and an appreciation of design and the garden aesthetic.

A good level of physical fitness is required and a willingness to work outside in all weathers.

The garden is a mix of informal and formal areas but very natural, with opportunity for a diversity of planting. It is managed organically and we plan to produce our own compost and grow cutting flowers and fruit and vegetables for the house.

We are also incorporating lots of new roses and topiary, so a passion for specialist pruning is desirable.

We have a good range of equipment and machinery, and training will be given where required.

We wish to cultivate a happy working environment with a spirit of collaboration and teamwork. Visits to other gardens and nurseries throughout the year will be an important part of learning and development, and inspiration.

This is an exciting opportunity to play an integral part in all aspects of a creative project from its start, as well as the ongoing maintenance of a beautiful garden where good horticultural practice is valued. Also a great chance to develop skills and knowledge and professionalism, and learn from experienced gardeners.

Working hours: Monday to Friday, 8am-4:30pm

25 days holiday pro rata +bank holidays.

Part time positions also considered. Please indicate this preference in your application.

Application deadline: Sunday 10th August inclusive.

Interviews: 12th-20th August.
