Rent-free accommodation plus excellent benefits

What we do?  Boughton Estate is a working landscape in the heart of rural Northamptonshire. At its centre lies the magnificent Boughton House, often referred to as ‘the English Versailles’, within a glorious parkland setting. The House is the private residence of the Duke of Buccleuch and his family, who play a central role in guiding and shaping Garden and Estate activities. The wider estate supports Buccleuch’s diverse rural enterprises including rural property, agriculture, forestry, and renewable energy.

The role?  In this unique position, you will play a vital role in maintaining the beauty and security of Boughton House and Grounds, working closely with the Park & Gardens Team. This is a hands-on varied role that combines horticultural care with security and estate support duties, in close alignment with the family's vision and values. While your primary role will be maintaining the House gardens and surrounding areas to a high standard, alongside this, as a member of the security team you will participate in the security rota, and have keyholder and on-call responsibilities, which require you to live on-site in rent free accommodation (a two-bedroom flat is available).

The person?  With excellent gardening and practical maintenance skills, you will have strong horticultural knowledge, attention to detail and be someone who takes pride in maintaining high standards.  An enthusiastic and knowledgeable individual, you will be willing to bring forward ideas for discussion with the family and the gardens team.  Candidates should demonstrate an awareness of security issues and the ability to remain calm and act decisively in emergencies.  Given the on-call nature of this role flexibility is required.  Gardening experience is essential, preferably within an estate or heritage property, and candidates must have a full UK driving licence.

Why work for us? We offer excellent benefits including private health cover, six weeks holiday, gym and shopping discounts, cycle to work scheme, and wellbeing related support and resources.
