We are looking for an experienced (second) gardener to help manage a small team to maintain a beautiful non traditional, 4 acre walled garden, near Horncastle in Lincolnshire.
This gardening position would also suit someone with nursery knowledge as we have a second site where we are starting to grow are own rare plant selection to sell in the walled garden.
Primarily candidates will be be responsible for maintaining the walled garden, trees, shrubs, borders, and lawns and keeping everything in pristine condition.
The role involves weeding, pruning, pest control, training plants, collecting seed, cuttings, propagating and irrigation as required. Along with some general maintenance work.
Working alongside the head gardener to implement new designs and ideas, keeping the gardens innovative and full of fresh ideas.
The second site is to help develop a small plant nursery area to grow some of the more unusual plants from the garden for retail. A knowledge of pest control and irrigation systems would be an advantage, but not essential.
The head gardener is looking for a 'second in command' with strong technical skills and a keen interest in rarer plants. This is an unusual garden full of innovation and hidden surprises.
Candidates must have a full clean driving license. An excellent knowledge of plants and keen interest to learn more. Along with the ability to inspire and help manage junior staff, volunteers and apprentices.
The confidence to work with the public, and help with garden tours would be an advantage.
A good awareness of health and safety, maintaining tools, and a clean organised working environment.
The ability to use their own initiative, a friendly honest disposition and a sense of humour all come in handy to!

Interview will be held by the first week of August. We are looking for someone to start by the begining of September.
