We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Gardener to lead the care and development of a beautifully maintained private estate set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty near Stroud.
About the Role
You will be responsible for managing and maintaining five acres of diverse, well-established gardens, which include:
- A walled kitchen garden
- Orchard
- Glasshouse
- Formal herbaceous borders
- Fine lawns
- Wildflower meadow
- Small woodland
The estate is also surrounded by an additional seven acres of paddocks.
Key Responsibilities
- Daily management of all garden areas
- Plant selection and sourcing
- Maintenance of lawns, borders, and beds
- Tree and hedge care (including chainsaw work)
- Seasonal planning and planting
- Leading garden improvements and long-term development projects
What We’re Looking For
- Qualifications in horticulture (essential)
- Strong plant knowledge and hands-on gardening experience
- Certification for chainsaw use and spraying (required)
- High level of planning and organisational skills
- Ability to work independently and take initiative
- Passion for creating and maintaining beautiful outdoor spaces
