Deputy Head Gardener
West Sussex
An exciting opportunity for a Deputy Head Gardener has become available at the award-winning gardens & landscape at Arundel Castle, West Sussex.
The role will require a skilled, experienced horticulturalist who is hands on and a proactive team player with at least 5 years practical and supervisory experience.
Working with a dedicated garden team of 8 full time staff and volunteers, and reporting to the Head Gardener. The successful candidate should have excellent communication skills as well as proven horticultural knowledge and experience. Responsibilities will include supervising the staff, contractors, and volunteers in the Head Gardener’s absence.
Applicants must hold a full UK Driving Licence, have excellent plant knowledge, a passion for horticulture and a keen eye for detail. Be flexible, have a good level of physical fitness and enjoy working outside.
Horticultural qualifications required would be an HND, National Diploma, or RHS Level 3 as a minimum and PA1 & PA6 spray certificates are essential.
