Based at Springfields Nursery in rural Hampshire, close to the Solent. We are a horticultural research and development facility, who carry out trial work on behalf of one of Europe’s leading gardening retailers.
The site has undergone significant development during the past few years and due to this expansion, we are now looking for a senior horticulturalist to help take the business forward.
About the role:

• We are looking for a highly skilled horticulturist to take a leading role in managing the business. The applicant needs to have a ‘can do’ mind set, be a strong communicator, with an analytical and enquiring mind, and be technically gifted.
• You will work closely with our clients to manage, organise, and perform a wide range of trials activities and ensure efficient and effective management of staff and equipment to produce high quality accurate trials and data.
• Day to day tasks vary with the seasons and the applicant needs to be both flexible and adaptable to meet the requirements of the business.
• Typical tasks include setting up growing trials, maintaining, and assessing them, and recording trial data. This is very much a ‘hands on’ role and you must have a positive attitude, a willingness to get your hands dirty, and be a physically fit individual.

Essential experience:
- A passion for plants and working outdoors (all year round) is essential;
- Horticultural qualification
- Experience in horticultural management
- Proficient level of computer literacy, including familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.
- Good planning and organisation skills with an attention to detail.
- Accurate record keeping
- The ability to manage and motivate a small team
- We are situated down a country lane, so own transport is essential.
